Early beta. Keep backups of important recordings. Beta license and limitations
Smudgy 1.0.0-beta.3
Changes
- Adds update controls in the Smudgy menu and the Updates section in Settings. Native update installation is still being validated; this release is available as a manual DMG download.
- Recording setup explains microphone and computer audio access and lets you recheck microphone access after changing macOS settings.
- Deleting a meeting asks for confirmation and moves its folder, including its recording, to the macOS Trash.
- Smudgy and Smudgy Dev use separate application and Keychain identities. Quit older copies before the first launch. macOS may ask for Keychain access; previously saved keys may need to be entered again.
Installation and updates
This release requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 26 or later.
Beta.2 does not have an updater. Download the beta.3 DMG, open it, and drag Smudgy to Applications.
The automatic update feed is not published for this rollout. Use the DMG to install beta.3.
Known limits
A short owner-operated installed-app test passed recording, saving, reopening, and playback. Broader permission checks, credential migration, long-recording qualification, and native update installation remain unverified. AI subscription connections are still being verified.
Windows and Linux downloads are not available. Automatic meeting detection and stopping when a meeting ends are not enabled.
